The wire rod serves as the precursor material for further drawing and processing into various gauges of stainless steel wire.

Composition:

The composition of Stainless Steel Wire Rod depends on the specific grade chosen, but generally includes:

- Chromium (Cr): Present at a minimum of 10.5% to provide basic corrosion resistance, with higher percentages enhancing this property.

- Nickel (Ni): Added in varying amounts, especially in austenitic grades like 304 and 316, to improve corrosion resistance, formability, and ductility.

- Molybdenum (Mo): Incorporated in some grades such as 316 to increase resistance against pitting corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking.
